Edinburgh Weather
Facts:
The climate in Edinburgh is best from May to September, but whenever you go, you're likely to see both sun and rain. In summer, daylight hours are long, and the evenings seem endless. In winter, it's cold and daylight hours are short, but with so much going on, Edinburgh is still worth visiting. Note that the city becomes impossibly crowded during the main festival period - August to early September, and Hogmanay (around 1 January) - so make reservations well ahead of time if you plan to visit then.
Edinburgh has a reputation for being a wet city, grey and misty much of the time. This is certainly true during the winter months when daylight hours are short and the cloud is low. However, this wonderfully atmospheric Edinburgh weather only adds to the romantic, cosy nature of a place filled with indoor entertainment. Rainfall is fairly consistent throughout the year but June and July can produce days of endless sunshine. Despite being in the North of the United Kingdom, the temperatures are not too severe. An average January will see the thermometers hovering around 1 degree Celsius (34 degrees Fahrenheit), rising steadily throughout the year to a high of approximately 19 degrees Celsius (66 degrees Fahrenheit) in July.
